Halocarbon 28LT Grease is anNLGI #2 grease formulated with an oil composed of light molecularweight polymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE). This inert oilis manufactured by a controlled polymerization process and then isstabilized to give it some very unique properties. This oilis safe, chemically inert, nonflammable, and is oxygen and chlorinecompatible. It has good lubricity, high thermal stability, andlow compressibility.
The thickener used in thisgrease is a very fine silica powder. Silica is a commonlyrequested grease thickener but its chemical stability is morelimited than the PCTFE oil. Silica-thickened greases can beprone to attack by chemicals active toward silica, such as alkalis,hydrofluoric acid and fluorinating agents. Compatibility ofsilica-thickened greases should be confirmed before being used inapplications in contact with these chemicals. Please see theSDS for more details.
Typical applications for thisgrease include valve lubrication and seals at lower than ambienttemperatures.
