removal
Very low metal loss (approx. 0.0002 inches per side)
Minimum equipment requirements
Minimum intergranular attack or surface etching
USE INSTRUCTIONS:
Proper precleaning is essential. Many soils, if not completelycleaned from the metal surface prior to heat treatment, can havevery deleterious effects on metal alloys during the heat treatprocess. Undesirable alloying on the metal surfaces, oftenaccompanied by pitting and other serious defects, can result fromfailure to preclean in accordance with recommended procedures.Cleaning may be accomplished with TURCO HTC, TURCO VITRO-KLENE, orother suitable TURCO cleaners. Consult the TDB for the cleanerchosen for recommendations on operating parameters.
Thoroughly rinse with overflowing water (warm preferred).
Acid clean in appropriate descaling solution for 5 to 10 minutes(See TDB #496 for recommended procedures). Acid cleaning is notnecessary for all conditions, but it is essential where diecontaminants such as lead and zinc, not removable in alkalineprecleaning, are known or suspected to be present.
Rinse with overflowing water for 2 to 3 minutes.
Allow parts to dry.
APPLICATION OF TURCO PRETREAT W:
After thorough cleaning and drying, apply TURCO PRETREAT Wcompound as soon as possible to prevent recontamination of metalsurfaces.
TURCO PRETREAT W must be thoroughly mixed before using. The bestmethod for application of PRETREAT W is by spray. No thinning isrequired. Normal suction aspirated spray equipment such as BinksModel 18 is satisfactory for application of the thin film necessaryfor protection.
* Start with 8 psi Pot Pressure and increase gradually if morematerial is required for faster application.
Coating thickness must not exceed 0.2 to 0.3 mils. at anylocation on the part. Thicker coatings will not function properlyand can lead to part damage. Special caution must be taken inapplying TURCO PRETREAT W to corners or other irregular surfaces.Normally, application of thin box coatings until a uniform lightorange-gold coating color appears on the surface is sufficient toobtain the recommended thickness.
