The SINAMICS G120C frequency converter offers the SafeTorque Off (STO) function as a standard feature.
The Safety Integrated function is completely integrated into thedrive system. It can be activated via fail-safe digital inputs onthe converter or via PROFINET or PROFIBUS with PROFIsafe.
The Safety Integrated function is implemented electronically andtherefore offers short response times in comparison to solutionswith externally implemented monitoring functions.

Exploit energy-saving potential and optimize energy consumption:You can - with intelligent SINAMICS drives. Depending on theapplication in question, energy consumption can be controlled bymotor speed adjustment to suit the individual process and achievethe greatest possible energy savings. The energy consumption ofdrives for turbo machines can be cut by as much as 60 %.Regenerative feedback is also an option for many applications. PROFIenergy
Provides energy-related status data for the system components tocreate transparency for the energy management; energy savings byselective shutdown of plants or plant sections.
ECO mode
In ECO mode, the operating point of the motor in thepartial-load range is automatically adjusted and optimized. Thisreduces motor losses, for example, in machines that do not need ahigh torque over the entire operating range.
Hibernation mode
Variable-speed drives that are not required to operatecontinuously are switched to standby or "Hibernation mode". Thedrive is restarted again as soon as it is needed.
Bypass mode
In bypass mode it is possible to "bypass" the converterelectrically as soon as the motor is frequently operating close toits rated speed. This solution helps reduce converter losses and soincrease overall efficiency.
Cascading
In pump, fan and compressor applications involving high outputs,the entire power demand is distributed among several motors. Phasedconnection and disconnection by means of partially or fullycontrolled cascades in combination with converters make a drivesystem more energy-efficient.
Energy balancing
Through the use of inverters with coupled drives, energy isexchanged through the common DC link. Through the direct energyexchange from one inverter to the next, it is possible to minimizepower losses in the system.
Reactive power compensation
The use of SINAMICS converters with Active Line Modules reducesthe capacitive and/or inductive reactive power in the machine. Itis then possible to dispense with costly reactive powercompensation systems.
Kinetic energy buffering
With dynamic reversing operations in single-axis and multi-axissystems, the kinetic energy available in the system is reused. Amotor connected to the common DC link is used to buffer kineticenergy.
Electrical energy buffering

Regenerative feedback
In conventional drive systems, the energy produced duringbraking is converted to heat using braking resistors.SINAMICS G and SINAMICS S converters with regenerativefeedback capability need no braking resistor, and supply theresulting braking energy back into the line.
DC link coupling with SINAMICS V20
Applications with two SINAMICS V20 converters with the samepower rating can share a common DC link in order to reuseregenerated energy.
