The SINAMICS G115D distributed drive system provides fullypreconfigured and ready-to-connect solutions in a modular conceptthat includes the converter, motor and gearbox.
The converter supports SIMOGEAR 2KJ8 geared motors with three-phaseasynchronous motors with efficiency class IE3 or high-efficiencysynchronous reluctance motors with efficiency class IE4.
It meets all requirements for horizontal conveyor systemapplications – from simple speed control to sophisticatedencoderless vector control. Integrated functions such as fast/slowspeed switchover, Quick Stop and limit position disconnector makethe SINAMICS G115D particularly suitable for applications inconveyor systems.
For applications that require safety technology, theSINAMICS G115D offers the integrated STO (Safe Torque Off)function, which can be implemented without additional externalcomponents.
The SINAMICS G115D distributed drive system is availablewall-mounted and motor-mounted.

The wall-mounted converter with its different versions (framesizes FSA to FSC) in a performance range from 0.37 kW to7.5 kW is suitable for a large number of differentapplications. Integration via PROFINET communication with PROFIsafe,AS-Interface, EtherNet/IP into a higher-level control system isvery easy thanks to full TIA Portal integration, which provides atool as well as an operating and data management concept. Inaddition, an optional web server module is available with the webserver module SINAMICS G120 Smart Access (SAM) – a WLAN-basedweb server solution for simple and fast wireless setup withsmartphones, tablets, or laptops during commissioning and fordiagnostics.

The SINAMICS G115D distributed drive system is ready fordigitalization. All operating data can be transferred to theMindSphere cloud solution. The MindSphere application "AnalyzeMyDrives" facilitates the process evaluation of operating data,with the possibility of adaptation to individual customerrequirements. This simplifies the recording and evaluation of theoperating conditions of the drive system.

Hardware configuration

The SINAMICS G115D distributed drive system is available asa wall-mounted and motor-mounted version, with degree of protectionIP65/66.
The performance range for the wall-mounted version, for ranges from0.37 kW to 7.5 kW and in the motor-mounted version, forranges from 0.37 kW to 4 kW.
The converter is configurable regarding fieldbus communication(without, AS-Interface or PROFINET / EtherNet/IP) and connectionmethod (cable gland or plug-in connection). Furthermore, thewall-mounted version can be configured with a repair switch, localremote control and the control voltage of the motor holdingbrake.

State-of-the-art IGBT technology with pulse width modulation(PWM) is used for extremely reliable and flexible motor operation.The closed-loop control electronics control and monitor the powerelectronics and the connected motor in several different controlmodes that can be selected.

The sensors of the conveyor element can be connected to thedigital inputs of the converter. These signals can be transmittedto the higher-level control for further processing via PROFINET,EtherNet/IP or AS-Interface.

Safety Integrated

The SINAMICS G115D distributed drive systems are alreadyequipped with the Safety Integrated Function STO (Safe Torque Off),with certification according to IEC 61508 SIL 2 as wellas EN ISO 13849-1 PL d and Category 3. This canbe activated either via the PROFIsafe communication protocol or viathe fail-safe digital input F-DI.

SINAMICS Startdrive is a tool integrated into the TIA Portal forconfiguring, commissioning and diagnostics of the SINAMICSconverter family. SINAMICS Startdrive (V16 update 4 and higher) canbe used to implement converter tasks with most of theSINAMICS G and SINAMICS S converter series. Thecommissioning tool has been optimized in terms of simplicity, easeof use, and consistent use of the benefits of the TIA Portal toprovide a uniform working environment for PLC, HMI and drives.
